It makes me sad that so many of the NYC jobs want in office at least 3 days a week. I'm 2.5 hours north of the city by train so 3 days a week would be a lot. But I could totally do 1-2 days a week and in office more often when events or big meetings are going on. Any folks have tips to negotiate around that?
it depends on the company. ask up front and explain why the commute doesn’t work for you. and ask WHY it’s important for people to be in 3 days a week. i’ve found most companies have poor answers for that.
I've had some where I'm like, "if you look at my resume, my experience is verbatim what you say you're looking for so....... take a peek at least please? lol
I'm looking for another Director level or Head of Support type role.
I don't bring it up, but it gets asked by the person doing the phone screening typically.
I wonder if you could loosely commit to it at first? Like acknowledge that it might be difficult, but you're willing to make the commute work for the right opportunity. Their reaction to that could be pretty telling?
(btw, I know some folks at Jellyvision if you're interested in the remote role that Ashley just posted - happy to help make an intro, I think one or both of them might be on the team that the role would oversee)
