These guys reached out to me directly. Weird gig managing ops for both sales and support for an app that aspires to be more than an insurance marketplace, 150k salary, seems like kind of a mess but potentially a solvable mess: https://jobs.ashbyhq.com/Jerry.ai/d9025fdc-bddd-4765-82f8-1c20537928b8?utm_source=6Vdva5VPyD
I feel like they've been on and off hiring for this role the last 2 years
Woof, but at least they were honest!
Sophie Always open. My take is that it’s too much job for one role. They want someone to handle both sales and support functions and have high expectations that may be difficult to surmount. But, if you can lay down the law, it’s an opportunity to restructure two different functions, which could be cool if that’s your jam. Other takes:
the person who interviewed me wasn’t HR or the hiring manager, she was a third party that would work with the org. She couldn’t really answer my questions about the team.
The interview isn’t just a “hey how ya doin,” there’s an exercise and everything. Very weird and inefficient way of doing things. (I bailed out within 20 minutes since I knew it was a bad fit from my side. Don’t be afraid to do the same.)
lanceco thank you so much, this is very helpful context. I remember it sounding overwhelming when I was looking in 2025, and get especially nervous when things come right back around. Mine seems to be with the HM, but it is 45 minutes, so good to know to look out for something nontraditional (I just assumed that they were having a hard time hiring and moved me right to HM stage).
