Been building an alternative Zendesk admin interface for a while and here it is it was something I had just for me for a couple of years rather than stumbling around the nightmare that is the Zendesk admin panel but now it is polished up for other humans to look at Little clip on linkedin here and I'll do something nice for anyone who tries it and tells me what they think
someone with less of a migraine might have thought to put a link to deltastring.com/beacon
Nice, how did you go about doing this??
That's a big question hard to answer in a few lines! I've had a little library of utility scripts doing regular jobs for a long time (just .py files I can run on the command line) and a couple of years ago I tidied these up and packaged some into a gui application with Beeware but also I have long been a fan of Salto and I spoke to those guys about having some sort of layer where objects could be updated in bulk and deployed in a friendlier interface anyway I make my living with the implementation and migration projects, sometimes custom apps and integrations, so this internal tool is something I've been adding to and maintaining for me and those who work with my business but yeah with Salto coming to an end I figured it was time to get my own tool out there in the world. It's not really a Salto replacement because it's geared more towards people who are Zendesk admins as a side duty, support leaders, ops managers, not Zendesk specialists per se
In terms of the application, the core engine and the Zendesk adapter and the UI etc are all separate components so we're already testing this with other applications. For the key features we're talking fully automated migrations, logic testing, rules analysis, trigger simulation, version control, multi instance comparison and deployment, all the stuff which is difficult to do for businesses without a dedicated Zendesk engineer
Wow this is fully independently engineered, sounds like a huge undertaking. Very neat thanks for sharing!
Thank you! It has kept me busy, hopefully it'll be useful to lots of people
