And this is why I will use AI for all kinds of things except answering detailed customer questions without a human in the loop

To clarify: People who don't understand the value of support as a skill and as a craft. People who don't know the value of hiring a professional. People who would have replaced support (and marketing and sales and finance and HR) with bots years ago if they could have.

And while it's fun to call out this one company who did this one thing, it's happening all over the place in varying degrees. And I'm not sure what we do about it. "We" being society and "it" being the devaluation of expertise.

I think the answer is to embrace the world where a lot of bigger companies intentionally embrace the mean-reversion-slop and use the ability to do better (even with AI support) by caring more about human outcomes. This is a problem that already exists, and the optimization layer of pure-spreadsheet-management is about to accelerate like 1000x, and I’m pretty excited for it
