Navigating Tech Debt and HR Challenges in Startup Environments

Sarah Betts I wish I could say I have… I sort of had when I was at startup #2, people actually cared about quality and would proactively make time to refactor and pay down tech debt. That was the very best of times from 2017 to ~2020, but it started going down hill after that and people I know are still there and who I talk to tell me it’s become all out pandemonium as of late, not just in engineering, but even HR where HR wouldn’t respond to tax withholding issues from former employees and those employees getting frustrated and emailing support after weeks of no answer from HR 🤯
